Coexisting with the dazzle of royal of Jodhpur is a pristine and pared-down world of its rural landscape that illuminates the simplicity of a life lived out in small village settlements on the desert frontier.
This ancient desert outpost, long subjected to extreme temperatures and very little rainfall, Marwar has the largest arid zone population in the world. The arid swathe of scrubland with a few trees is the setting of the traditional mud homes set in small but clean compounds in the villages here. Guests are invited into these homes to experience the lifestyle of the simple inhabitants of these isolated village communities. It is a rare privilege indeed to be invited into their homes and hearts.
Carefully designed to offer rewarding and inspiring experiences for both our guests and the locals, a typical tour entails a visit to the village of the Banjara community. The menfolk are largely engaged in livestock farming and are tend to travel frequently; the womenfolk work in the fields and look after the household affairs. Your experience takes you to the very heart of their tough lives, but also their warmth and hospitality.
From seeing the churning of butter to the grinding of flour; to marvelling at the women’s exquisite jewellery and colourful clothes to sharing a chai and trying their indigenous bread — this tour is a sensory experience that anyone interested in the real Rajasthan will find unforgettable.
