Bustling Bazaars of Old Jodhpur

Overview

On this dedicated bazaar walk, you will explore the wholesale grain market, the bamboo market, the shops of the spice sellers, colourful local grocery shops, milk and local cheese stalls, tea shops, fabric and jewellery shops; then there are the shops selling agricultural implements, fruits and vegetables, local beauty products…the list is endless! One of the oldest markets in the city Sardar Market is said to have over 6,000 tiny shops hawking all manner of goods.

Every little shop in these market places presents interesting insights about life in this region of Rajasthan. Colourfully dressed men and women from adjoining rural areas flock to this market for their needs, so this walk also provides great opportunities for seeing different communities that make up the Marwar region.
