New Delhi

India’s largest city, Delhi has for centuries been one of the country’s most important commercial and economic centres, and as a result, is incredibly rich in culture and history. Comprising the ancient walled city of Old Delhi and the more modern New Delhi, the city offers a remarkable array of grand architecture, historic monuments, and centuries-old temples. Among its highlights are three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Red Fort, Qutub Minar, and Humayun’s Tomb. Other key attractions include the 17th-century Chandni Chowk market—still one of the city’s most vibrant shopping hubs, particularly for jewellery and traditional saris—the iconic Lotus Temple, and Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India.

Day 1 TO 2

Day 1
Arrive in Delhi

Namaste & welcome to India. Arrive in Delhi, where after completing arrival formalities, you will be greeted by an Alphonso Stories representative and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2
New Delhi

After breakfast, explore the contrasting sights of Old and New Delhi with a local expert. Navigate the vibrant lanes of Old Delhi, visiting Jama Masjid and experiencing the energy of Chandni Chowk on a cycle rickshaw, with a photo stop at the Red Fort. In New Delhi, drive along Rajpath past India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan, before visiting Humayun’s Tomb, the first garden-tomb of the Mughal era. Overnight at hotel.

Agra

Located on the banks of the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh, Agra is best known for the magnificent Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a memorial to his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, it is an architectural masterpiece of exquisite craftsmanship and perfect proportions. The city is also home to several other remarkable sites, including the 16th-century Agra Fort built in red sandstone, the grand Jama Masjid, and the elegant tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, often referred to as the ‘Baby Taj’.

Agra

Drive to Agra, home of the Taj Mahal. On arrival, check in to your hotel before visiting the historic Agra Fort, where red sandstone walls enclose palaces and mosques built by Emperor Akbar. Continue to Mehtab Bagh, a serene garden across the Yamuna River, offering stunning sunset views of the Taj Mahal. Overnight at hotel.

Jaipur

Fringed by the rugged Aravalli Hills, Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and is famously known as the “Pink City” for its distinctive terracotta-hued architecture. As part of India’s Golden Triangle, it offers a vibrant mix of tradition and modernity, with bustling bazaars, grand palaces, and ancient temples. Highlights include the opulent City Palace and the fairytale-like Amber Fort set against a dramatic landscape.

Day 4 to 5

Day 4
Jaipur

Begin your day with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, followed by breakfast. Drive to Jaipur, stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri, a striking 16th-century Mughal capital. Continue to Jaipur and check in to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

Day 5
Jaipur

Early morning, experience Jaipur by Dawn with a guided bicycle ride through the waking city, passing quiet streets and lively markets, with a stop for a local breakfast. Later, visit Amber Fort, followed by the Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing. Continue to the City Palace and Jantar Mantar Observatory, with a photo stop at Hawa Mahal. In the afternoon, explore Jaipur’s lesser-known side, visiting temples, interacting with locals, and enjoying a relaxed tea experience. Overnight at hotel.

Leh

Set amidst dramatic mountain landscapes, Leh has long been an important crossroads for trade between Kashmir, Tibet, India, and China. Overlooking the old town, flat-roofed houses spread across the valley, interspersed with green fields and poplar trees that bring life to the stark terrain. Key highlights include the Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, and the surrounding monasteries that offer panoramic views of the region.

Day 6 TO 7

Day 6
LEH

Fly to Leh via Delhi. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. The flight offers spectacular Himalayan views, and upon arrival, time is set aside to rest and acclimatise to the high altitude. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 7
LEH

Visit Thiksey Monastery for the early morning prayer ceremony, followed by Hemis Monastery, one of Ladakh’s most important monasteries. Later, visit Shey Palace, once the royal residence, known for its impressive Buddha statue. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Diskit (Nubra Valley)

Located along the Shyok River in the breathtaking Nubra Valley, Diskit is surrounded by dramatic landscapes of rivers, sand dunes, and towering peaks. It is home to the region’s oldest and largest monastery, Diskit Monastery, perched on a hilltop and adorned with colourful prayer flags. The valley offers stunning views and a unique blend of Himalayan desert scenery and cultural heritage.

Day 8 TO 9

Day 8
Diskit (NUBRA VALLEY)

Drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. In the afternoon, visit Diskit Monastery and the Hunder sand dunes. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 9
DISKIT (NUBRA VALLEY)

Visit the cultural site of Entsa near Panamik, followed by a scenic hike to the village. Later, explore Samstanling Monastery, known for its murals and peaceful setting. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Leh (Returned)

Drive back to Leh via Khardung La. In the afternoon, visit the Sowa-Rigpa Institute, dedicated to the preservation and study of traditional Tibetan medicine, known as the “Science of Healing.” Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Fly to Delhi. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a warm and intimate dinner with a local family, experiencing traditional Indian hospitality and a home-cooked vegetarian meal in a relaxed, family setting. Overnight at hotel.

Day 12
DEPARTURE

After breakfast, transfer to Delhi airport for your onward journey.
