Afternoon walk & Tea

Overview

Wandering through the hill town, enjoying the gorgeous views, viewing some iconic hotspots such as churches and temples, and interacting with the friendly locals, adds a lot of magic to this walk. You will spend time at the market to recapture its importance to the local community; it's also special because Munnar is also a very important hub for growing tea, coffee and spices, and the shops and stalls lining the streets in the market are able to retail some of the produce from them as well. You can also look out for items on sale such as cardamom, pepper, dry fruits, coconut products, cashew nuts, curry powders, honey, syrups, green tea, aromatic oils, home-made chocolates. You can also purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, strawberries, herbs, earthen pots, bronze and copper utensils, plastic toys, and local forest produce from the many vendors who congregate at the market.

Why you will love it

  • The rich atmospherics of the Market; Interacting with vendors;  enjoying the spectacle of the spread of the fresh produce in the stalls
  • Uncovering stories of the market’s development from the times of the Raj to present times
  • experiencing a wander around town to other iconic places in town
  • What you will experience

The Munnar Market built by the British during their plantation era, with the methodically and tastefully arranged fresh fruits, vegetables are a major attraction. We can walk through the market, see, touch, and get a sense of what the typical day in the market is like. Once we have finished with the market, we will walk to the church and temple to get a dose of the various cultures that exist in harmony and for some good aerial views of the town. The entire walk lasts about two hours. We will be accompanied by homemakers or an English-speaking guide to help us get the best out of the market experience.
