Our journey winds its way through the narrow lanes of Agra, where still stand the grand havelies of yesteryear, the oriental markets of Kinari Bazaar, Lohar Gali and spice street of Rawat Para.

The Discovering Oriental Agra program is conducted by eco-friendly battery-operated rickshaws. The journey will cover several important places in the city. We will rewind to the years of Emperors Shahjehan at   Dara Shikoh's library. The eldest son of Mughal emperor Shahjehan and Mumtaz Mahal, Dara Shikoh (1615-1659) was a scholar of Persian, Urdu and Sanskrit. He set up several libraries, including the one in Delhi. In Mughal times these libraries were important hubs for intellectual and literary conversations; you will also visit a haveli in the Kala Mahal locality of old Agra which is the birthplace of Mirza Ghalib, a leading poet in the Court of Mughal Emperor Bahadurshah Zafar in Delhi. Moving on we come to the headquarters of the Radhasoami faith, at Dayalbagh. The ancient Mankameshwar temple, raised to Lord Shiva, is a wish-fulfilling temple. The Jama Masjid built by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1648 is one of the largest mosques in the country. It is a  handsome richly carved red sandstone structure. The tour includes visits to several churches in the city including the Akbar Church; raised by order of Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1598 this was the first Catholic Church of Agra built by the Jesuit Fathers to whom it was a gift from the emperor. We will also visit with many ayurvedic doctors, the paan and the petha mandi and the food street of Seth Gali.
