Heritage Hampi Tour

This tour open offers amazing insights into India’s village world, as also seen from the perspective of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its impact on the economy of the surrounding settlements through tourism. Located within the protected core zone of this site are 29 village settlements and these are now an essential part of the cultural heritage of Hampi and the support they provide to it. The traditions, festivals, social life of people here are all now deeply intertwined with their shared heritage and the landscape, especially after the UNESCO recognition for Hampi’s cultural importance. Because of the thriving culture in the villages around it, Hampi is often referred to as a living heritage site. On this tour, we will immerse ourselves in the lives of people from these communities, understand how they contribute to the richness of the cultural heritage of this site.

Why you will love it

  • The impact of a UNESCO –acclaimed village on the settlements around it, in terms of the socio-economic empowerment

We promise to make this fun, engaging and educational experience for you! The tour is conducted by a local from the village community. We will take a ride on the bullock cart of a farmer and chat with him about life in these parts. A visit to the community temple of goddess Durga offers us an opportunity to actually take part in the pooja ceremony. Not only will we meet some of the women artisans we will also learn how to create some handicraft from locally available materials. While visiting a local family in the community we will offer to help in the kitchen to prepare a meal.
