Aromatic India

Twelve days through the most fragrant corners of Northern India. Rose fields and attar distilleries in Kannauj. Mughal-inspired perfume workshops in Agra. The Taj Mahal at sunrise. Holi in Jaipur. And on the final evening, a private perfumery workshop where everything encountered along the way is blended into a single, personal fragrance to take home.

Edition 2 has been thoughtfully expanded with more time in Delhi, Kannauj, and Jaipur, and every day in the programme has a reason. Nothing is filler. The pace is generous. The experiences are led by people who live what they teach — eighth-generation perfumers, celebrated food writers, pioneering aromatherapists, and master craftspeople carrying centuries of knowledge.

This is for those who travel to feel something deeply and leave carrying it with them.

Delhi

Four nights at The Imperial, Delhi - India’s big, beautiful welcome. A city where history, food, culture, and everyday life spill onto the streets. Old neighbourhoods that feel like living museums. Spice bazaars that have been running for 500 years. And a side of the city that most visitors never find.

Delhi

Day 1
New Delhi

You are met at Delhi International Airport by your private driver and taken to The Imperial — one of India’s most iconic landmarks and a hotel renowned worldwide for outstanding service. Set amid lush gardens with a serene pool, the spa here is an indulgent experience in its own right, with exceptional facilities and a treatment menu to match. Your home for the next four nights. Settle in at your own pace.

Day 2
New Delhi

Spend an immersive morning at Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts & Design with aromatherapy pioneer Dr Blossom Kochhar, one of India’s most respected voices in the field. Through hands-on workshops, explore local plants, aromatic properties, and the sourcing and use of essential oils. The experience includes a light lunch and time to unwind with specially trained staff, choosing from treatments such as reflexology, facials, and more at your own pace.

The day concludes at Haveli Dharampura, a UNESCO-awarded 200-year-old Mughal-era mansion in the heart of Old Delhi, where dinner becomes a refined journey through Delhi’s culinary past, blending street flavours and rich Mughlai classics in a setting filled with aroma, texture, elegance, and nostalgia.

Day 3
New Delhi

Journey into the heart of Shahjahanabad with Dr Chef Rajeev Goyal on a sensory food trail through 500-year-old lanes, spice bazaars, and legendary eateries that reveal Old Delhi at its most authentic. Along the way, visit Gulabsingh Johrimal, serving attars, incense, and oils since 1816, where centuries of fragrance traditions linger in every bottle.

The experience continues through Asia’s oldest spice market, where Chef Rajeev guides you on what to buy and how best to use it. A curated tea tasting offers a slower pause before ending at an award-winning studio for a hands-on cooking class, where you prepare and share everything you have created together.

Day 4
New Delhi

Today explores a side of Delhi that most visitors never discover. Celebrated food writer and storyteller Anubhuti Krishna, who knows the city intimately, guides the group through Delhi’s contemporary face; its arts scene, living craft traditions, favourite local spots, and cultural moments rarely found in guidebooks. More than a tour, it feels like being shown around by a friend, revealing the city through personal stories, hidden corners, and everyday experiences.

The day unfolds with a long, indulgent lunch, an afternoon of discovery, and an evening of exceptional modern Indian food and cocktails, offering a thoughtful and contemporary perspective on Delhi’s evolving cultural and culinary landscape.

Kannauj

Three nights at Anand Bhawana Palace — the Perfume Capital of India. On the banks of the Ganges, Kannauj has been the heart of attar-making for over 400 years. The air here is different. Rich with roses, sandalwood, and the quiet hum of a craft practised with extraordinary patience and generational pride.

Anand Bhawana was built to host guests of the local royal family, and we are welcomed into their home by its current members. Every room is individually decorated and named after local flora. The food is grown on the family’s own land and prepared on-site by professional chefs — an experience of genuine hospitality that goes well beyond a hotel stay.

Kannauj

Day 5
Kannauj

The group drives from Delhi to Kannauj, where the evening unfolds with an intimate dhoop-making workshop led by local village women. This hands-on experience introduces one of India’s oldest aromatic traditions, sustained through generations by the women who continue to preserve and practice it.

Using natural ingredients such as herbs, resins, and essential oils, learn age-old techniques from skilled artisans while gaining insight into rural livelihoods, sustainable practices, and the cultural importance of traditional incense making. More than a workshop, it becomes a meaningful cultural exchange of stories, skills, and warmth, leaving you with your own handmade dhoop and a deeper connection to the local community.

Day 6
Kannauj

Spend the day in Kannauj with eighth-generation perfumer Pranav Kapoor, exploring fragrant rose fields at dawn, ancestral copper-still distillation factories, and the narrow market lanes where one of India’s oldest perfume traditions continues to thrive. Guided by deep family expertise, discover the journey from flower to attar through an immersive experience blending heritage, craftsmanship, and sensory discovery.

The day concludes with a refined seven-course Fragrance & Flavour dining experience, where freshly distilled perfumes are paired with each course in ways that are difficult to put into words. Inspired by the notes, moods, and artistry of traditional perfumery, each dish unfolds like a carefully composed attar, transforming dining into an immersive exploration of aroma, balance, flavour, and lasting sensory impressions.

Day 7
Kannauj

The day begins with a calming morning yoga session in the serene surroundings of the palace, offering a quiet and grounding start before an experience that demands full attention. The group then visits one of the few facilities in India authorised to distil true sandalwood oil, where an intimate guided session reveals the delicate process that transforms raw wood into precious essence, along with the patience, craftsmanship, and inherited knowledge behind one of perfumery’s oldest traditions.

The morning continues with an interactive fragrance blending workshop under expert guidance, inviting you to create your own signature scent. Together, these experiences weave wellness, sensory discovery, and traditional craftsmanship into an immersive journey through the world of fragrance.

Agra

One night at Hotel Trident — home to the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, and the delicate Itmad-ud-Daulah. A city that rewards those who look beyond the obvious.

Agra

Day 8
Agra

After breakfast, the group travels to Agra and checks into the Trident. The afternoon is spent at the majestic Agra Fort before the day closes at Mehtab Bagh — the tranquil gardens across the river where the Taj Mahal catches the last light of the day.

Jaipur

Three nights at Royal Heritage Haveli — Rajasthan’s Pink City, fringed by the Aravalli Hills. Ancient palaces, bazaars overflowing with jewellery, textiles, and spices. And the extraordinary timing of Holi.

Royal Heritage Haveli was once a hunting lodge on the outskirts of the city. Each suite is individually decorated and themed, giving every guest a genuinely unique space to return to. The staff are attentive and warm, and the property has an Ayurvedic-themed spa with treatments available throughout your stay.

Jaipur

Day 9
Jaipur

The day begins before sunrise at the Taj Mahal, where soft golden light, drifting mist over the Yamuna River, and the quiet stillness create one of the journey’s most ethereal and unforgettable moments. After breakfast, perfumer Neha Vij leads an immersive Mughal-inspired fragrance workshop exploring rose, oud, jasmine, saffron, sandalwood, and other iconic ingredients rooted in royal perfume traditions. Through guided scent exploration and storytelling, each guest creates a personal signature attar to take home.

The group then drives from Agra to Jaipur, arriving at Royal Heritage Haveli. The rest of the day is left entirely at leisure; settle into your suite, explore the property, or unwind with your first Ayurvedic treatment.

Day 10
Jaipur

The day opens at first light with temple rituals, fresh flowers, and the gentle rhythm of the city waking up, explored by women-driven e-rickshaws through Jaipur’s most atmospheric morning corners. The afternoon opens into the City Palace and then into Jaipur itself — its markets, hidden corners, colours, and the kind of unhurried wandering that always becomes the best part.

Day 11
Jaipur

The final full day opens with Holi as the streets of Jaipur come alive with colour, laughter, music, scent, and collective joy. More than simply witnessing it, you become part of an intimate, community-led celebration alongside locals, immersed in one of the world’s most unforgettable festivals through a safe and guided experience with natural colours and the true spirit of Holi.

As the day softens, Yasmine ElGhamrawy brings the journey full circle with an exclusive private perfumery workshop inspired by the attars and essential oils gathered throughout the trip. Guided through India’s rich perfume heritage, rare botanicals, and distillation traditions, each guest creates a bespoke fragrance and leaves with a 10ml perfume oil, a 20ml alcohol-based perfume, and a printed guide to recreate the scent at home.

Return to Delhi

Before the drive to Delhi, there is one final opportunity to experience more of Jaipur’s extraordinary heritage. A visit to Amer Fort is highly recommended for those who want to take in one more of Rajasthan’s most magnificent sites — a 16th-century hilltop fortress that offers a breathtaking close to the journey. For those who prefer a quieter morning, a last Ayurvedic treatment at the haveli is the perfect alternative before departure. On arrival in Delhi, individual transfers to the airport have been arranged to suit each guest’s flight. For those requiring an overnight stay before their departure, a hotel can be arranged on an individual basis in advance.
