Colour, Scent & Soul - India

There is an India that doesn’t announce itself all at once; it lingers, unfolding gently in moments of colour, scent, and beauty. In the warmth of marigold petals underfoot, in the heady aroma of spices drifting through early morning markets, in the rhythm of hands that create with intention rather than display.

Led by retreat host Honor Marks, this journey unfolds across Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur in a way that feels intimate, sensory, and deeply personal. It is designed for women who seek not just to see a place, but to feel it; through its colours, textures, and the stories woven into everyday life.

This is not a journey of ticking destinations off a list, but of following colour and scent as they guide you through markets, gardens, ateliers, and moments of stillness where beauty is both created and felt.

Thoughtfully curated and intentionally paced, with space to connect with the place, the craft, and yourself.

Delhi

Delhi is India's big, beautiful welcome - a city where history, food, culture, and everyday life spill onto the streets in the best way. It's where travellers fall in love with the chaos of spice markets, the calm of leafy gardens, and the charm of old neighbourhoods that feel like living museums.

From iconic monuments to hidden corners only locals know, Delhi offers a mix of stories, flavours, and surprises that make it the perfect place to begin.

Delhi

Day 1
New Delhi

Arriving in Delhi, you’ll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to Colonel’s Retreat, a warm boutique homestay in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and ease gently into the rhythm of India.

One evening is dedicated to a relaxed, home-style cooking experience with a local host. Through shared cooking, conversation, and dinner, guests discover how flowers, spices, and everyday botanicals shape Indian cuisine while learning traditional techniques for curries, breads, and the art of balancing spices.

Day 2
New Delhi

Begin in Old Delhi, the historic heart of the city. Visit Jama Masjid, followed by a walk or rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, where spice markets, silver shops, and centuries-old eateries bring the Mughal era vividly to life. Drive past the Red Fort (viewed from outside).

In the afternoon, continue to New Delhi. Visit Raj Ghat, then drive past Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, and India Gate.
Conclude with visits to Humayun’s Tomb and Qutub Minar.

Agra

Agra is more than just the Taj Mahal, though that alone is breathtaking. Home to the mighty Agra Fort, the delicate tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, and markets that hum with colour and life, this is a city that rewards those who look beyond the obvious.

And of course, nothing quite prepares you for watching the Taj glow at sunrise or sunset, a vision of love and loss that stays with you long after you leave.

Agra

Day 3
Agra

After a relaxed breakfast, you set out on a comfortable drive to Agra, watching the landscape shift from the bustle of the capital to quieter stretches along the way.

On arrival, you check into Trident Agra, where the calm, leafy setting offers a welcome pause after the journey. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4
Agra

Wake up at the crack of dawn to visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this iconic monument remains one of the world’s most enduring expressions of love.

Return to the hotel for breakfast and a relaxed morning.

In the evening, tour the majestic Agra Fort. Its walls and palaces are a silent witness to the rise and fall of the Imperial Mughal Empire and feature a variety of ingenious Islamic-inspired devices (some decorative, some more practical) within the fabric of the buildings. It is a citadel with marble palaces, ornate alcoves, and terrace pavilions.

Jaipur

Fringed by the Aravalli Hills, Jaipur is Rajasthan's vibrant Pink City, full of life, colour, and history. Wander its walled old town, explore stunning palaces, and get lost in bustling bazaars overflowing with Kundan jewellery, textiles, and spices.

From the fairy-tale Amber Fort to the grandeur of the City Palace, Jaipur is the kind of city that charms you at every turn and lingers long after you've left.

Jaipur

Day 5
Jaipur

After breakfast, drive towards Jaipur with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri, the former Mughal capital built by Emperor Akbar. Explore its quiet courtyards, palaces, and striking red sandstone architecture before continuing into the changing landscapes of Rajasthan.

Arrive in Jaipur and check in to your hotel. The remainder of the day is left unhurried — relax at the property or enjoy a gentle first introduction to the Pink City with your guide.

Day 6
Jaipur

Begin the day in Jaipur at first light, exploring the city’s quieter corners by women-driven e-rickshaw. As temple rituals unfold and flower markets awaken, discover Jaipur through the eyes of local women whose stories and daily lives bring a more personal perspective to the Pink City.

Later, visit Amer Fort and its dazzling Sheesh Mahal, before exploring the royal courtyards of City Palace and the astronomical wonders of Jantar Mantar. End the day wandering Jaipur’s lively bazaars and hidden lanes, soaking in the city’s vibrant spirit and timeless charm.

Day 7
Jaipur

Spend a leisurely morning in Jaipur discovering how flowers, colour, and craftsmanship quietly shape the city’s identity. Visit an acclaimed ceramic studio where generations of artisans have refined delicate floral motifs, followed by a private hands-on workshop exploring Jaipur’s rich artistic traditions.

Continue through hidden lanes and artisan studios for immersive craft experiences including block printing with natural dyes, traditional lac bangle making, and wheel pottery. Guided by expert local artisans, learn age-old techniques, work with hand-carved blocks, clay, and vibrant pigments, and create your own handcrafted pieces to take home — a personal connection to Jaipur’s living craft heritage.

Day 8
Jaipur

Your final full day in Jaipur begins with the vibrant celebration of Holi — streets filled with music, laughter, scent, and clouds of colour drifting through the air. More than a spectacle, it is an intimate, community-led experience where guests join locals in the joyful spirit of one of India’s most iconic festivals.

As the colours settle, the remainder of the day unfolds at a relaxed pace. Wander through Jaipur’s lively bazaars, discover textiles and crafts, or simply soak in the city’s vibrant energy — an unhurried and memorable close to the journey.
