The gorgeous setting of the Trongsa Dzong is mesmerising. Trongsa Dzongkhag is located near the centre of Bhutan and was considered crucial in controlling the kingdom in earlier years due to its strategic position. It houses an important administrative building, which serves as the headquarters of the government of Trongsa District. It is also a major monastic complex, with around 200 monks.  Trongsa also has an impressive museum housed in the old watchtower; the museum is dedicated to the Wangchuck dynasty and is a good place to learn about the history of the kingdom.
