Hampi and surrounding villages together are believed to be the Mythical Kingdom of Kishkinda mentioned in The Ramayana, an ancient Hindu epic. From it, we learn of Prince Rama’s quest to rescue his beloved wife Sita from the clutches of Ravana with the help of an army of monkeys. In the fourth chapter of The Ramayana, Rama arrives in Kishkinda in search of his abducted wife. On this tour, we will hear the story as it happened here in Kishkinda after Rama's arrival, as we visit important sites associated with Ramayana. If you enjoy storytelling and are seeking a deeper spiritual connection, then this is a great tour for you!
How is Hampi connected to The Ramayana? What were the places Prince Ram visited on his journey? Where is the birthplace of Hanuman? So many questions and so compelling is the need for answers! On this tour, we will try and open up the treasure trove of stories that surround the Hampi and its surrounds.
The Tour is conducted by a local from the village community. At the Kodanda Rama Temple, we will learn of its significance and participate in a special temple ritual. We will venture up Malyavanta hill and the temple there and take part in the Ram Bhajan here. Wandering around the Madhu Vana we will discover what happened here when Hanuman came here. At the Chintamani Ghats, we will hear how it is connected to The Ramayana. One can also spend a bit of time meditating in this sacred spot where Rama is said to have visited. Again at Vali Gufa and the Pampa Sarovar, we will learn about their connection with The Ramayana. From a vantage point from atop a hill, we will enjoy glorious panoramas of the Kishkinda Valley.
