Today, the busy streets of Basavanagudi still have amongst them the restaurants favoured by these luminaries. Join us as we tell you delectable tales of local history, urban myths, and anecdotes as you sample slices of Kannada culture and food at places that vary from hole-in-the-wall outlets to fancy restaurants

What you will experience

One of Bengaluru's oldest residential areas, it takes its name from bavasavana gudi, the ‘Bull Temple’ the most iconic land site here. It features regularly on the city’s heritage walks A vibrant gastronomic slice of the city’s culinary heritage, it’s the perfect place to sample some delicious breakfast (thindi) fare along the way… from craft beers to traditional local dishes. It is also a haven for veggies. Favourites include a Davangere-Benne dosa, a sagu masala dosa or a puliyogere; in the rava family there is the rava dosa, the rava idli and even a rava vada. The iconic Vidhyarthi Bhavan is still a hot favourite here…just see the massive queue there! It’s got great dosas, vadas and brilliant coffee; and the service is quick and efficient. Dwarka Bhavan another old-timer has phenomenal khali dosas. The morning is cool and bright and invites you to try the perfect filter kaapi, or tea if you prefer, to start your day. Brahmin's Coffee Bar is an old-time favourite place. And there’s nothing like starting it with a bargain…so go for the “by2” coffee, where you get almost 2 cups for the price of 1!
