Cycling Tour of Kathmandu

This cycling tour takes us to some of the prettiest areas around Kathmandu. The village of Chobhar is justly chosen for this expedition, for one it offers a grand view of the valley from the hilltop and you also get to visit the 15th-century Adinath Lokeshwor Temple dedicated to Rato Machhindranath. The route to Chobhar is quite spectacular as the Chobar Gorge falls along the way and you get spectacular views of the Bagmati River as it bids farewell to the valley. Kirtipur village which is richly nuanced in Newari traditions opens up a window to the indigenous culture of the Kathmandu valley.

Why you will love it

  • Explore the sights in and around Kathmandu.
  • Opportunity to immerse yourself in the narrow alleys and the rich nuances of Newari traditions and culture.
  • Enjoy panoramas of the snow-capped mountains over a delicious lunch.

What you will experience

After breakfast in our hotel, we will gather in Thamel office and begin our cycling tour at 9.00 am after a short briefing.  We begin cycling from Thamel and head towards Chobhar Gorge via Kathmandu Durbar Square which is 9 km away from Kathmandu. After reaching Chobhar village, we will enjoy a spot of sightseeing at Chobhar hilltop for about an hour. You will spend time here at the Adinath Temple and savour the panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley from its hallowed precincts. The temple attracts both Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims as it said the deity represents incarnations of the Avalokiteshvara and Lord Shiva. We will proceed then to Kirtipur Hill following the old trail. Our ride will take us through narrow back alleys and enjoys views of old shrines, temples and traditional houses where the townsfolk still follow the old ways.  Lunch at a restaurant will open up a window to traditional local delicacies while you enjoy those superb views of the high snow-mantled Himalayan peaks. On our way back, we will visit the Chilamchu Stupa and the temple of Bagh Bhairav, as well as the atmospheric of Kirtipur Bazaar. On our return to Kathmandu, we will go to our respective hotel rooms, relax and spend quality time remembering the highpoints of our tour.
