Private Dinner with local family

Jodhpur has a long history of culinary extravaganzas. From the superb offerings of snacks and savouries, biryanis and sweetmeats from the eat streets…to the exotic dishes summoned up by the royal kitchens – there has never been a dearth of exciting culinary experiences.

Be it the simple dishes from its desert lands or the verdant spaces of the Aravallis… the traditional dishes from the days of war or exotic meats from the days of hunting (now no longer permitted), there has always been a grand variety of dishes for Jodhpur’s citizens to open conversations about. What’s also interesting about the food scene in Jodhpur is that you will find a slew of hot favourites from other regions from Rajasthan state. Jodhpur’s citizens love to eat, so it’s not surprising that you will find exciting samplings here from India’s own rich heritage of the culinary arts.

You will get an excellent opportunity to learn some interesting dishes in this cooking demo, even as you enjoy the company of a lively host and many interesting conversations about food and culture in the ‘Blue City’.

Why you will love it

  • Learning the art of Indian cooking
  • Learning about different spices of India
  • Interacting with the family and experience the warmth of their hospitality over dinner

What you will experience

We organise a private dinner in a local home, where cooking is taught by a charming family. This 1-2-hour demonstration in the kitchen, allows you to share the secrets of some favourite dishes of the family and what goes into preparing them, in their own unique way. The cooking lessons are quite elementary, so it is easier for visitors to learn how to cook a basic yet delicious Indian meal. The demo also opens up an insight into what drives Indian cooking. Once you pick up the basics and also with the experience gained, you will discover it’s quite possible to cook many other types of dishes using different combinations of spices when you decide to experiment in your own kitchen back home. After the demo, you will get to enjoy the delicious dinner and lively conversations with the host family!
