On the outskirts of the erstwhile royal city of Jodhpur, in the fabled expanses of Rajasthan’s Thar Desert, unique back-to-nature experiences are blooming at an experiential farm. Held together by its women-dominated skilful team of farmers from the local community, Mharokhet whisks visitors away to an unusual rural setting of the deep silences and tranquil vistas of a desert land. Who would believe such wondrous fruits and vegetable can grow in the arid reaches of a desert? How amazing is it that it is the women folk of this rural community wrought this transformation of a degenerated farmland into a regeneration hub in this arid pocket of India?

What you will experience

This is the most popular experience as it combines the other distinct experiences comprising of a tour of the farm followed by a multi-course culinary experience and additionally allows one time to immerse oneself in the natural setting of the 40-acre farm. This experiential farm, near Jodhpur, produces over 80 varieties of nutritious crops – which cover the entire gamut of exotic and native herbs, fruits, vegetables.

The farm tours are entertaining and educational, and you will learn all about the importance of sustainable farming and traditional knowledge of pest control and fertigation, the benefits, and challenges of doing chemical less agriculture, and share best practices that Mharokhet uses in growing their native and exotic produce. There definitely will be an opportunity to harvest some fruits/vegetables during the tour as well!

Guests can anticipate an unforgettable culinary adventure on this tour as Mharokhet takes the hyperlocal, seasonal approach to the next level for a unique table to the farm experience.  More than 90% of the produce used is harvested fresh from the farm itself, having just seen soil and sun and never a refrigerated truck! The culinary trail is a dining experience that consists of a 7-course, pre-plated, plant-forward meal, which is an amalgam of art, freshness, and flavour.
