Overview
The countryside around Galle is truly picturesque and is particularly nice to explore if you are looking to discover the ‘authentic’ Sri Lanka. To explore, cycle past lush green paddy fields dotted with water buffalo, bright white egrets and vibrant kingfishers, sloping tea plantations, rice fields, small villages, temples and colourful gardens growing spices and fruit.

What you will experience!
Pedal through the lush paddy fields and cinnamon plantations as you embark on the beautiful 12km cycling trail. Explore the unfrequented village life, local temples burning incense and vibrant blue kingfishers flying overhead. The circular route which begins and ends at Wijaya Beach, a popular beach café in quiet Thalpe.

Explore its meandering paths and lanes, pedal past the animals, rice farmers and smiling children. Look out for tea bushes, banana trees, jaggery, pineapple plantations and coconut palm. In case you want to explore a longer route take a break for Thambili (King Coconut) in an ambalama or end with a scenic lunch at Kahanda Kanda to the north of Koggala Lake.
