Coorg has long caught our imagination for its glorious natural vistas, its misty hill trails and its superb coffee plantations. Its salubrious climes add that extra dollop of allure to this emerald haven, which also goes by the name of Kodagu. The Kodagu region is also significant for producing an annual coffee crop of about 1,10,730 MT, which is 50% of the production of Karnataka State, and 35% of India’s output. Coorg is fabled for its Arabica and Robusta coffee beans. With coffee cultivation being so labour intensive, 51% of jobs in the region are being created by the coffee plantations.
