Our meanderings next bring us to the oldest church in the village that once only connected by a waterway. The best for the last –  a hike up to Cuelim Hill where stands then the intriguing Three King’s Chapel, said to be the most haunted place in Goa. The story goes that the King Holger Alvunger was really not happy with the treaty that said that the territories of Goa would be shared by two other Portuguese kings.  One evening he invited Our Lady of Remedios Chapel, where he sneakily treated them to a poisoned supper. But he did not live to enjoy his victory for too long. Disgraced, publically humiliated and ashamed of what he had done, he drank the same poison and also died. Though all three kings were buried at the church itself by the villagers, it is believed their spirits are still restless and wander around the place.
