Trekkers will enjoy the many marvels on this long 10-km trek in the environs of a UNESCO-acclaimed World Heritage Site, much venerated by environmentalists as a hotspot of biodiversity. The route takes you through many diverse terrains, each offering its own level of challenges to your endurance. The beauty of the trek is the botanical splendour and the pretty waterfalls you encounter all along the way. This 10 km trek kicks off at the Silent Valley Tea Estate and leads you to the summit of Meesapulimalai, notable for its fabulous panoramas of the area.
Meesapulimalai is recognised as a UNESCO heritage site and is one of the longer treks available in Munnar. This trek is operated by the Kerala Forest Department and is a much sort after a trek in Kerala. This trek follows trails of tea, eucalyptus, and pine to finish in pristine montane grasslands and shola grassland complex - an ecosystem unique to the southern Western Ghats. This 10 km trek from the Silent Valley Tea Estate to the summit of Meesapulimalai, the second highest peak in South India, can often be a soul-searching experience - trekking amidst the beauty of pristine, undisturbed wilderness often with endemic Nilgiri Tahr or Asian wild dogs or birds of prey for company.
