Immerse in Mumbai's multi-layered charm through a heritage cycle tour. Explore vintage and contemporary facets, pedal through iconic landmarks, and embrace the joy of slow travel.
Mumbai city….multi-layered grand dame by the sea – An enigma of contrariness with her blend of glitz and grubbiness, the material and the spiritual, the vintage and the contemporary. What a fascinating adventure of discovery awaits visitors at every turn in this new dawn of social distancing, environmental consciousness and a rekindled desire for the slow life. You’ve poked out her little secrets while wandering its length and breadth on foot —Now enjoy the fun and adventure of discovery from a whole new angle with a cycling tour as you paddle through the city – halting at whatever takes your fancy –Just give it a whirl as the wheels of your bike go round and round….
Our adventure begins at the iconic Gateway of India at 6.30 am. As the morning sea breeze rustles through the trees you will quite literally feel your spirits rise as you delve into the history and heritage of this magical spot already a-bustle with early tourists, vendors and pigeons pecking for titbits. This victory arch was erected to commemorate the landing in December 1911 at Apollo Bunder, of King-Emperor George V and Queen-Empress Mary – the first British monarch to visit India. Right across stands the famous Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, which has played host to a stream of celebrities in its century-old lifetime.
After enjoying morning tide selfies at the seafront it's time to hop on to your bikes and peddles past the Royal Mumbai Yacht Club, the Police Headquarters, the NGMA and the city museum. En-route, we will stop by for a breather in the Kala Ghoda area, a popular hub for Mumbai’s art culture. Whizzing down Marine Drive is a real breeze before the morning rush hour. Stop for a bit and make the most of the tranquil seascape as you enjoy the wind in your face and a memorable selfie moment. Up next is the grand façade of Victoria Terminus, which defies the humdrum version of the railway station, the site of a thousand arrivals and departures each day. The tour ends with a well-deserved, hearty breakfast at a local restaurant within the South precinct.
